Manuscript Topics
Intelligent techniques (often incorporated with mathematical or numerical methods) have been rapidly advancing riding on the technological evolution cycle in very 3-5 years. Consequently, their applications have not only deeply penetrated into the traditional fields such as stock exchange, robotics and control, image processing, biomedical data analysis, text mining etc., but also spread to other fields that traditionally relied on individual's experiences, such as agriculture, education, driving, medical diagnosis and so forth. The various restrictions imposed on people’s life, business operations, and community management during the COVID-19 pandemic since early 2020 have accelerated the development and adoption of intelligent solutions to meet the needs of people, small businesses, industries, institutions, communities, and governments around the world. This special issue provides an opportunity for researchers and developers in the world to report and disseminate their latest research outputs in devising new algorithms, creating novel techniques, and solving real-world problems or significantly improving existing solutions in all areas by adopting intelligent computing.
Contributions to this special issue can either be within the following technical areas (but not limited to):
• neural networks, deep learning, and machine learning
• evolutionary computing
• genetic programming
• fuzzy computing
• ant colony, swarm intelligence, and other nature-inspired intelligent methods
• hybrid computing
or be in any of the following application areas (but not limited to):
• agricultural, environmental, and Earth sciences
• satellite, airborne, or drone image analysis or processing
• medical, biological, biomedical, or pharmaceutical sciences
• business, finance, economy
• defense and surveillance
• transportation, logistics
• communication networks and cyber security
• virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR)
• engineering design and optimization
• automation and control
• optimal scheduling in all areas
• online learning, teaching, assessment, or invigilation
• Internet of things (IoT)
• modelling, simulation, pattern recognition, forecasting in all fields
• knowledge engineering
• Text mining and social media analysis
We welcome contributions combining the theoretical novelty with application together to solve real-world problems. High quality review articles on a specific theme related to the scope of this special issue would attract special attention by the editorial team.
