Daily activities we perform, such as walking, reaching and grasping, and even standing, require intricate interactions between the sensory and motor systems. Many areas in our brain play important roles in sensory processing or motor control and learning. To understand the interactions occurring between the sensory and motor systems, researchers use different levels of analysis, including neurophysiological, biomechanical, psychological, mathematical, clinical, and kinematic and kinetic, and psychophysical analyses.
AIMS Neuroscience has included a section dedicated to “Sensory and Motor Systems” and encourages submission of papers related to this topic area from investigators in various disciplines, including systems/behavioral neuroscience, biomedical engineering, psychology, kinesiology, etc. Research addressing sensory-motor interactions that involve human motor control and learning, neuromotor disorders and rehabilitation is particularly encouraged.
