Manuscript Topics

Mosquito-Borne Diseases, such as malaria, dengue fever, and Zika, are big concerns for the public health. They are transmitted between humans by mosquitoes. Different measures have been applied to control and prevention of these diseases, in particular, to the control of mosquitoes. The disease transmission dynamics are complex, and the different control measures have different impacts on the transmission dynamics. It is crucial to have better understanding and reliable prediction for the disease transmissions, and to compare the outcomes of the different control measure so that more effective strategies for disease prevention and for mosquito control can be developed.

Mathematical models have proven useful to this end. Various important vital factors such as chronological ages, infection ages, and ecological development stages; species characteristics suchas population dispersals and dispersions; and interactions among a species or between different species can be included in the models. Investigations of model features, including qualitative or quantitative analysis of model dynamics, parameter sensitivity analysis, and numerical simulations can provide deeper understanding and reliable prediction for disease transmissions. More useful guidance for disease control strategies can also be set u based on the mathematical models.

This special issue will cover a broad range of qualitative or quantitative modeling studies for mosquito-borne diseases. Significant modeling development or mathematical analysis related to the issue topics are expected.
