Dear Colleagues,
Before 1970, countries, cities, societies and various businesses and economics could affect and improve technologies and when we reached the 70ies, and especially after the year 2000 modern technologies, IoT, digitalization and smartness could influence, change, and improve various businesses and economics, urban infrastructures, cities, societies and even humans' life. Generally, business economy of the large cities such as capitals struggle with urbanization challenges like contagion caused by Covid19, environmental problems, climate change, lack of infrastructure, digitalization challenges, poverty, slum, economic crises, social instability, and health diseases that threaten humans' beings. Sustainability isn’t sufficient key for these cities to improve their quality of citizens' life. So, a new concept of urban life is needed. Digitalization, high technology and ubiquitous could create novel concept concerned on urban setting named i-sustainability plus theory. Ubiquitous idea is combination of real life, high technology, and virtual reality. Based on the i-Sustainability Plus theory (invented by: guest editor Prof. Dr. Hamid Doost Mohammadian, 2017), ubiquitous city (U-city) and smart city (S-city) with sustainability in addition digitalization is the best key for cities deal with urbanizations' crises. In this special issue, Blue Green economic sustainability, D3 revolutions (Digitalization, Decarbonization, and Decentralization), and U-city through 5th wave theory and related theories, models and concepts, will be probed as a new concept of urban living and tomorrow’s cities.
