Letter from Editor in Chief
Dear all,
2019 came and gone. It was a remarkable and important year of transition for Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering (MBE). Not surprisingly, 2019 was filled with many new challenges and opportunities. MBE is blessed and enhanced with a new team of energetic editorial assistants and a greatly enlarged editorial board with many well-known and emerging global research leaders in biosciences and engineering who, with the generous assistance and support from hundreds of authors and reviewers, have significantly expanded the scope and scale of the journal. Looking back, though there are still some aspects and issues that need improvement, we are happy to report to you that 2019 was a wonderful and productive year for MBE.
Here we briefly summarize the main achievements MBE has accomplished in 2019.
--MBE papers are indexed by all top databases such as web of science, PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc. Specifically, MBE is indexed by following databases: Current Contents/CompuMath, Current Contents/Physics, Chemical, and Earth Sciences, Dimensions, Ei Compendex/Engineering Village (Elsevier), INSPEC, Mathematical Reviews, MathSciNet, MEDLINE, PASCAL/CNRS, PubMed, Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE), Scopus, Web of Science, Zentralblatt MATH. MBE papers are Archived in Portico and CLOCKSS.
--MBE achieved an increase in its impact factor this year, from 1.230 to 1.313.
--MBE ranked in Q3 of "Mathematical & computational biology" (WoS).
--Research areas in Q2 (Scopus): Agricultural and Biological Sciences (miscellaneous); Applied Mathematics; Computational Mathematics; Medicine (miscellaneous); Modeling and Simulation.
--MBE published 421 manuscripts in 2019 (Research article 411; Review 8; Editorial 2), a huge increase compared with only 70 manuscripts published in 2018.
--MBE rejection rate in 2019 was 55.21%.
--The median processing time (MPT) was 84 days in 2019.
--MBE published 16 high quality and timely special issues.
We are very grateful to all MBE authors, reviewers, readers and the members of MBE team for what MBE has accomplished in the last 17 years. Please remember that each associate editors of MBE can publish one article per year for free as the first author or the corresponding author and is encouraged to propose timely and interesting topics for special issues.
Let us keep the impressive momentum going and make 2020 another great year for MBE.
