Manuscript Topics
This thematic issue is devoted to mathematical modeling of infectious and inflammatory diseases at the individual and at the population levels. The development of a viral infection in the human organism is accompanied by inflammatory processes, which are an important part of the immune response. However, an excessive inflammatory response can lead to inflammatory cell death and to cytokine storm. Inflammatory processes play a significant role in the development of a number of non-infectious diseases, including atherosclerosis, asthma, and neurodegenerative diseases. These questions will be considered in the thematic issue, taking into account the detailed biological justification of mathematical models.
Keywords
infectious diseases, inflammatory diseases, mathematical immunology, mathematical epidemiology
