Multimedia is is currently used in many fields. Multimedia technology is widely used at home, business, teaching, public places, virtual reality environments, etc. In the recent years it has been innovated to be applied in new areas such as IoT, Cloud technology, and Big Data. Research on Multimedia includes the computer media used to generate content and its digital representation, storage, and the subsequent transmission of content to end users. Many problems can be found in both cases, when storing and when transmitting the information. This problem is due to the large extension of the files, and the technical limitations for the transmission of large files since significant losses in video quality can occur in the file received by the end user. Other essential aspects to take into consideration are the security and the rights management.

In this Special Issue, we aim to receive research theories, ideas, projects, and innovations related to the latest technological advances applied in Multimedia systems and Computing, including factors associated with the representation of digital information, processing, storage, transmission, and security.
