Manuscript Topics
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continuously poses serious threats to the global population. Mathematical and statistical models are of importance in uncovering the characteristics of COVID-19 transmission, clinical outcomes, and host-pathogen interaction. Currently, the control of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is challenged by several key emerging aspects, such as follows.
• Mutations and variants of SARS-CoV-2,
• COVID‑19 vaccination strategies,
• Nonpharmaceutical interventions and related disease control policies,
• Interactions between COVID-19 transmission dynamics and human behaviours and decisions, and
• Exploring the determinants of transmission characteristics associated with different settings, contexts and sources, and their impacts.
This special issue considers the modelling contributions related to (but not limited to) these research topics. We welcome submissions focusing on the epidemiological, biological, computational, immunological, and virological aspects of COVID-19, or other diseases that closely related to the pandemic. Authors are encouraged to implement their theoretical framework with real-world datasets or demonstrative simulation examples.
