Manuscript Topics
Smart manufacturing is the new trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, and it aims to connect data seamlessly across different stages of the manufacturing process to meet changing demands and conditions in real time. The foundation of smart manufacturing consists of big data, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, Internet of things, simulation, augmented reality, additive manufacturing, cloud computing, and autonomous robots. Software engineering thus serves an important role in the digitization and computerization of manufacturing systems. The fundamental studies in software engineering will lead us to create more innovations in smart manufacturing and expend the manufacturing sectors.
The objective of this special issue is to collect cutting-edge research works focused on the development of software and algorithms for smart manufacturing. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
● Computer aided design and simulation
● Computational process planning and control
● Mass customization and personalization
● Augmented reality for human-machine interaction
● Real-time monitoring and inspection
● Manufacturing intelligence and informatics
● Human-robot collaboration in manufacturing
● Cyber-physical systems and cybersecurity
