Artificial intelligence (AI) employs techniques from neural networks, operations research, and statistics, among others, to unearth concealed insights in large amounts of data. With its automatic perception and evaluation capabilities, AI has supported the development of numerous engineering disciplines, including communications, smart infrastructure, transportation, etc. It has accelerated the development of artificial intelligence by introducing new opportunities and urgency. AI is founded on algorithms, and mathematical modeling is the foundation of algorithmic thought. Mathematical modeling is a subfield within the realm of applied mathematics that involves the development of simplified representations of complex mathematical theories. Further, mathematical modeling refers to the process of creating a mathematical representation of a real-world scenario to make a prediction or provide insight. The field of mathematical modeling is continuously advancing, with the continual emergence of novel technical tools.
This Special Issue aims to report on the recent advances in state-of-the-art research on artificial intelligence-based mathematical modeling optimization in diverse engineering applications. The research domains may involve (but are not limited to):
