Manuscript Topics

In the last years, there has been an explosion in the amount of biomedical data available from different sources such as medical images, electronic health records, genomic analysis, wearables... Nowadays, data analysis plays a key role in improving diagnosis accuracy, developing new therapies, and applying existing therapies to other illnesses. These advances have been permitted by the development and computational implementation of advanced mathematical methods.

This special issue will bring original research in applying and developing advanced mathematical and statistical methods for biomedical data analysis of different problems and information acquired in different formats. Suitable topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Data quality and variability
• Data processing of biomedical images and signals
• Mathematical methods in the design of digital twins
• Epidemiological models
• Entropy and mutual information
• Machine learning methods applied to data analysis
• Matrix and tensor factorization methods applied to biomedical data
• Mathematical methods in medical informatics and clinical decision support systems
• Network medicine
• Partial differential equations in biological and biomedical modeling
• Statistical data analysis
• Topological data analysis
