Manuscript Topics
The massive amount of data shared and stored every day allowed for the development of deep learning applications that can infer important information in many different domains. From autonomous vehicles to medical diagnosis, machine learning techniques leverage these great silos of data to identify patterns more precisely. The growth in performance is beneficial as it allows, for instance, for the detection of pathologies in their early stages enabling the mitigation of consequences, or a more fine-grained analysis of complex phenomena like climate change or pandemic spread.
The Special Issue aims at providing a forum for scholars, engineers, and practitioners to present new academic research and industrial development on pattern recognition and image processing in any area of application. We welcome the submission of research papers and abstracts which describe original work that has not been submitted or is currently under review, has not been previously published nor accepted for publication elsewhere, in any other journal or conference.
A non-exhaustive list of domains of applications includes:
• Medical assistance, healthcare, clinical practice, pathologies detection
• Biomedical engineering
• Detection and classification in Biology
• Electrical and mechanical engineering, failure detection, smart grid
• Cybersecurity, attack detection, virus identification
• Transformers and attention based mechanism in pattern recognition
• Robotics and automation, computer vision
• Natural disaster prevention, civil engineering, construction management and optimization
• Transportation, environmental engineering
• Geospatial engineering, spatial planning, and remote sensing
• Materials science and engineering
• Smart Cities
