Manuscript Topics

Transportation electrification is widely acknowledged as a viable solution for reducing reliance on fossil fuels and curbing greenhouse gas emissions within the road transportation system. Numerous countries have set increasingly stringent targets in recent years, emphasizing their commitment to supporting the electrification of transportation. The burgeoning global prevalence of electric vehicles (EVs) is poised to significantly reshape existing systems. Yet, the transformation of urban transportation systems in the era of electrification remains largely uncharted territory.

Understanding how the rise of EVs will alter the transportation landscape is crucial. This encompasses evaluating the impact on traffic flow operations, the strategic deployment of charging infrastructure, and the overall service quality of urban mobility systems. This information is paramount for effective transportation management and planning.

Addressing the sustainability of transportation systems during electrification necessitates further research to identify optimal policies, planning strategies, and operational frameworks. This Special Issue invites researchers to submit original research and review articles exploring various facets of road transportation electrification. Potential topics encompass, but are not limited to:

• Forecasting of electric vehicle charging demand.
• Techno-economic studies of electric vehicle technologies.
• Electric vehicle operations integrating connected self-driving technologies.
• Planning for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
• Eco-friendly mobility solutions tailored for electric vehicles.
• Policy frameworks governing transportation electrification.
• Assessing changes in traffic flow and human factors within electrified transportation systems.
• Utilizing data mining and big data in electrified transportation systems.
• Innovative solutions for electric transit systems.
• Evaluating environmental impacts associated with transportation electrification.
• Developing methods for the comprehensive assessment of electrified transportation systems.
