  • It has been two months since we stepped into 2025. I would like to review the achievements for our 2024 and set up our new plans and goals for 2025. AIMS Energy is an Open Access international journal devoted to publishing peer-reviewed, high quality, original papers in the field of Energy science and technology to promote the worldwide better understanding of full spectra of energy issues. Together with the Editorial Office of AIMS Energy, I wish to testify my sincere gratitude to all our authors, members of the editorial board, and peer reviewers for their contribution to AIMS Energy in 2024.

In the past year, we had received more than 300 manuscripts. After rigorous and professional reviews to these submissions, 60 of them have been accepted and published. Thanks to our increased effort and the scientific impact, the number of submissions to our journal has continued to grow steadily and significantly since 2021. The manuscripts we have received cover a wide range of energy fields including renewable energy, energy storage, energy modeling, energy transformation, biomass energy, energy economics, etc. The authors of the manuscripts are from more than 30 countries worldwide. The diversity of the sources of the submissions has indicated a significant increase of international collaborations on the research of energy technologies. The combined efforts of the authors and our editorial team have made 2024 another successful year for AIMS Energy.

One of the important strategies of attracting high quality and high impact papers to our journal has been the calls for special issues. In 2024, we have planned and called 7 special issues that are currently open for submission. To keep our editorial board being dynamic, a number of the editorial board members have retired from our Editorial Board after their terms of service expired, and at the same time, 10 new members have joined the Editorial Board. Now AIMS Energy has 77 enthusiastic members on our editorial board. We will continue to renew and accept dedicated fresh researchers to join the Editorial Board in 2025. Our members are active researchers, and we are confident that with their dedicated effort of research and publications, the journal will offer our readers more impactful articles.

With the high demand on innovative research for renewable energy and efficient utilization of energy, we expect to call and receive more excellent articles for publication in AIMS Energy in 2025. We would also like our members of the editorial board to encourage more of our peer researchers and students to publish papers and make AIMS Energy a source of high impact articles for the society of energy research. We will continuously improve the efficiency of our review process, and we aim at reducing the time elapses from submission to decision significantly. The latest Citescore of our journal in Scopus (Elsevier) is 3.8, the latest Impact Factor in ESCI-Web of Science is 1.8. We believe that all our future efforts will increase the impact and citations of the papers published by AIMS Energy.

Let me wish the best year of 2025 to our dedicated editorial board members, authors, peer reviewers, and staff members of the Editorial Office of AIMS Energy. Thank you.

Prof. Peiwen (Perry) Li, Editor in Chief
