Manuscript Topics

The identification of risk factors and injury mechanisms represent key steps in the development of preventive measures in sports. Continued epidemiological studies are needed to identify potential changes of risk factors, e.g., due to changes of equipment or environmental factors, but also related to changes of the population at risk. Multifactorial approaches are used to establish injury mechanisms, e.g., video motion analysis, computational modeling, recording of individual training characteristics, etc. Finally, challenges of the implementation of preventive measures have to be overcome. Therefore, the main objectives of this special issue are to extend existing knowledge on risk factors and injury mechanisms in various types of sport and to demonstrate the effectiveness of novel preventive measures and success of implementation.

Potential topics (reporting novel data) include but are not limited to the following:

• Risk factors for injury (in various sports)
• Injury mechanisms (in various sports)
• Effects of preventive measures (in various sports)
