Manuscript Topics
There are many green initiatives, such as green cities, green communities and green buildings. Apart from energy and resources efficiency, one of important aims of these initiatives is to bring back greenery into our built environment.
Abundant scientific evidence has demonstrated the multi-function of greenery in built environments, such as urban heat island mitigation, microclimate adjustment, stress alleviation, ecosystem cultivation and social benefits. Numerous cities have developed their strategies to bring green space into cities not only to ameliorate the negative environmental impact accompanied with the urban densification but also to create healthy, sustainable cities.
The special issue is to collect research efforts on greening built environment in different scales and areas. The special issue welcomes papers on the following topics:
• Urban heat island and green space
• Urban ecology and ecosystem
• Green communities and buildings
• Green space planning and design
• Urban agriculture and community gardens
