This Special Issue is focusing on the recent trends on the protection of electrical networks and systems following the rapid changes on the development of the electricity networks and the challenges arising both from the grid development and the high penetration of distributed energy sources under the context of climate changes. The 12th International Conference on Electric Fuses and their Applications (ICEFA 2024), hosted by the University of West Attica in Egaleo, Greece from 27-28 September 2024, is focusing on the same aspects. Papers submitted to this conference, but also papers covering the topics of the conference are invited to be submitted to the Special Issue in the AIMS Energy Journal.
