Manuscript Topics
One of the major challenges of our generation is the sustainable transformation of energy generation and substituting fossil fuels with renewable energy sources. Biofuels and waste to energy technologies are some of the fastest growing solutions with the largest share in primary world energy supply among all renewable energy solutions. Biomass has a number of advantages because it is carbon based, but carbon neutral energy source and can be used within the existing infrastructures. There are still a range of challenges in obtaining biomass in sustainable way and for its optimised and efficient use.
This special issue is dedicated to the scientific and research efforts related to biomass fuels and their role in sustainable energy production. The issue will cover original research or reviews on supply, processing of biomass and biomass derived biofuels, techno-economic and life cycle assessments, biochar production and use, and other topics related to the production and application of biomass fuels in sustainable energy transformation.
