Agriculture 4.0 is the vision of harnessing new technologies to help drive the future of agriculture and food production. As technology advances, it will become nearly impossible for a single operation to utilise all available resources. It is the next phase of innovating in the food supply. The age of the platform and cloud computing is here, and it's time to prepare ourselves for the grand transformation that comes with it. Agriculture 4.0 will bring us to a place where we can customise products to specific customer tastes and habits, using data collected not just by sensors but also by a network filled with fridges, stoves, ovens, cars, and even clothing to help us know what we will need in advance. We can gain several benefits through the utilisation of edge computing along with interconnected devices within an operations ecosystem. Increased connectivity is crucial for many industries in today's digital economy, but there can also be security risks associated with IoT sensors and hardware on edge for agriculture. Agriculture 4.0 is the most recent approach for the agriculture industry, focusing on incorporating technology in agriculture to optimise farming practices and resources like water, fertiliser, machinery, and labour. This technology's subsequent "Enterprise-Wide" adoption will be driven by edge computing and new IoT devices directly connecting to the cloud.
Agriculture 4.0 is an agricultural revolution that combines agriculture, food and information technology. Agriculture 4.0 utilises the IoT, cyber-physical systems, agent intelligence and extensive data analysis in a seamless agrarian ecosystem to ensure food security and safety at a lower cost. In recent years, edge computing has increasingly become a popular topic and has enabled the deployment of many IoT applications in various industries. The advent of edge computing is believed to bring excellent opportunities to improve the efficiency and usability of agricultural systems by facilitating data processing at the edge through AI techniques and enabling proactive decision-making using big data. The emerging fields of AI, edge and the Internet of Things (IoT) hold great potential to empower farmers to utilise better resources in their daily pursuance of efficient and sustainable processes. These advanced concepts are enabled by converging technologies and systems, including wireless technologies such as robotics and agricultural machines, cloud computing and big data analytics, RFID/NFC tags, sensor networks, big data analytics and high-performance computing.
