The quality of service is the key to the development of hospital, and the quality of nursing service plays an essential role in the development of hospital. How to improve the quality of nursing service is the key issue of nursing management and the basis of hospital development. Modern nursing service faces new challenges, and it is also important to reform the operation form of nursing management. Business process reengineering (BPR) was proposed by Michael Hammer in 1990. First, it is applied to the field of enterprise management. Based on customer demand, it takes process as the reengineering object, and improves customer satisfaction and enterprise benefit by recombining the process elements. In recent years, nursing scholars have also explored the application of BPR to various nursing fields. In the modern hospital management, the nursing process is reengineered and optimized. Specifically, according to the medical market and the needs of patients, the hospital recombines the nursing service resources, and thoroughly changes the service process, organization management operation, culture and so on from the compliance of patients, competition, and market changes, to optimize the working process, improve the effect, efficiency and benefit of nursing service, and optimize the value-added of nursing service. At present, the existing problems of nursing process come from the over-specialization and functional division of labor, which directly affects the continuity and coordination of medical services. Although the nursing process based on the division of labor and specialization of work improves the efficiency to a certain extent, overuse will affect the continuity and coordination of medical and nursing services; a nursing process often goes through several links, and the whole process takes a long time and costs high, which directly leads to the lack of human resources and the reduction of work efficiency. Therefore, the hospital nursing BPR and optimization is a very important research direction.
BPR is introduced into the field of nursing to reengineer the nursing service process. It is guided by the patient needs and takes the patient satisfaction as the standard, to optimize or redesign the original process and establish a smooth service chain through the fundamental thinking and analysis of the process and the strategies of deletion, merger, addition, decentralization, change and simplification. It is in line with the concept of "patient-centered" in modern nursing. Deletion strategy is to abolish the invalid links of service value-added, including unnecessary waiting time and value-added activities. The merger strategy is to compress the projects scattered in different functional departments and completed by multiple professionals into a relatively independent task. The addition strategy is to increase the corresponding departments or systems according to the service needs. Decentralization strategy is to decentralize some of the service functions or departments in order to directly serve patients. Change strategy is to change the sequence or logical relationship of the original process. The simplification strategy is to simplify the working procedures or links on the premise of meeting the needs of patients without affecting the technical procedures, thus reducing the non-service work as much as possible. The realization of process management goal is based on the long-term monitoring, continuous improvement and continuous optimization of the process, to improve the quality and efficiency, and ensure the continuity, reliability and stability of process improvement. BPR sorts out and optimizes all points and links in hospital management and process. Nursing management and nursing service are all operated through the process. The implementation of the nursing process will straighten out the quality management from the link, so that the nursing service is closely linked. It is necessary to carry out in-depth study and analysis of hospital nursing BPR cases.
At present, in the research field of hospital nursing BPR, the vast majority of process optimization research still takes doctors as the factor to promote the improvement of all aspects of the whole process from the perspective of medical care, and there are no nursing staff themselves realizing the importance of improving the whole process from the perspective of nursing staff. In the process of nursing, medical staff pay more attention to the efficiency of patient treatment and ignore the humanistic needs of patients, which further aggravates the psychological burden of patients, reduces the compliance of patients in the whole process of nursing, leads to the poor connection of all links in the process of nursing, and reduces the efficiency of treatment in the whole process. The theme of this special issue is to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of hospital nursing BPR and optimization using case-based deep learning, especially the related research of BPR case deep learning in the process of emergency nursing. In this research topic, original and critical articles as well as opinions, methods and modeling research are welcomed.
The research topics of this special issue may include but are not limited to the following areas:
• Need for shorter treatment time of nursing BPR
• Hierarchical management of treatment risk in nursing process optimization
• Efficient patient triage management in nursing process optimization
• Transportation system of emergency nursing BPR
• Routine operation procedure of emergency nursing BPR
• Analysis of delay factors of emergency nursing BPR
• Differentiation of responsibilities of medical staff in nursing process optimization
• Construction of first aid team in nursing process optimization
• Nursing defect management analysis of nursing BPR
• Hospital nursing BPR for maternal and child health group
