Manuscript Topics
The Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) family of ligands and receptors are a lynchpin of regulatory networks necessary for pivotal processes during embryonic development as well as during adult physiologies. Parathyroid hormone (PTH), PTH-like hormone (PTHLH, alias PTHrP), and Tuberoinfundibular peptide (PTH2, alias TIP39) are well known for their regulation of serum calcium, functions during development of multiple tissues (chondrogenesis for example) as well as neuroendocrine functions, respectively. Previously undescribed mechanisms and roles for the PTH family of ligands and receptors is advancing at a rapid pace.
Thus, we invite investigators to contribute original research and review manuscripts that will advance the biological understanding of these regulatory networks in embryos and adults, the physiological mechanisms to regulate ion metabolism homeostasis, the genetic mechanisms necessary for tissue patterning, and the evolutionary functions in non-mammalian models.
Potential topics include, but are non limited to:
• PTH, PTHLH and PTH2 regulation of tissue patterning (cartilage, pancreas, skin, etc.)
• Design of PTH, PTHLH and PTH2 analogs for therapeutic use
• Homeostatic mechanisms necessary for the regulation of calcium and phosphate
• Neuroendocrine functions of PTH, PTHLH and PTH2 in embryos and adults
• Gene expression patterns of PTH, PTHLH and PTH2 in embryos and adults
• Functions of PTH, PTHLH and PTH2 in non-mammalian models
• Evolutionary conserved mechanisms of PTH, PTHLH and PTH2 in vertebrates
