Manuscript Topics
When cracks are detected in solid materials, assessments are needed to determine the cause of crack formation, the reduction of failure tolerance of the materials containing the crack, whether the cracks should be removed from the materials, or whether recovery process of the materials is required. Multiple discrete cracks are often detected in solid materials, and the assessment for the material containing multiple cracks are not easy compared with the material containing a single cracks because of interaction of adjacent cracks. We intend to invite leading research scientists in this interaction of multiple cracks to submit original research and comprehensive review articles for consideration for publication in a special issue “interaction of multiple cracks in materials” in the AIMS Materials Science.
The target topics include local stress-strain, fatigue, creep and fracture behaviours for coplanar cracks, offset cracks and an imbedded crack near free surface, in addition with boundary criterion on interfering or standalone cracks (but are not limited to).
The articles will be published in AIMS Materials Science open access free of charge. Submitted papers should not have been previous published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All manuscript will be peer-reviewed before their acceptance for publication.
