Manuscript Topics
The Special Issue “Environmental geochemistry and health issues studies on Potentially Toxic Elements and water resources management” concerns the distribution of potentially toxic elements (PTE) in soils at regional and local scale, and underground/surficial water resources assessment and management. This knowledge has a fundamental importance for environmental risk assessment and for analysis in the evaluation of human health risk, especially in intensive agricultural and urbanized areas. Geochemical knowledge of the territory, has a high priority for both soils and underground/surface waters for land-use planning. The latters represent, indeed, the matrices where the main agricultural products grow, to become the foods for citizens. Themes under consideration would include:
1) modern geochemical surveying methods for PTE in soils and waters;
2) PTE distribution in soils and waters and their health impact;
3) concepts in mineralogical evolution, geochemistry, geochronology, and radiogenic and stable isotope studies relating to the geological factors controlling sources of PTE in the environment;
4) water resource assessment and management.
