Manuscript Topics

The overall goal of this Special Issue of AIMS Environmental Science is to explore and evaluate the impact of human activity on the environment. The world faces huge and unprecedented biodiversity, land degradation and climate change challenges. Human activity (in addition to manufactured goods which are the consumer-friendly effect of this activity) to some extent affects the environment, inter alia by occupying and transforming space and producing waste. Development of civilization and the associated evolution of the lifestyle were followed not only by the increase in consumption but also a change in its model. Rapid industrialization; urbanization; agricultural, industrial, and economic activity have led to large-scale land degradation over the past few decades. It resulted in the emission of various types of pollution into the environment and above all, degrading land and creating more and more waste. This had a major impact on pollution and degradation of the natural environment.

An important and significant role in the protection of the natural environment is played by effective methods of remediation technologies for contaminated and degraded soils. One way to help address these challenges is through the Sustainable Development.

The Special Issue is to collect research efforts on sustainable development and environment in different scales and areas. The special issue welcomes papers on the following topics:

The impacts of land degradation on the environment.
Actions to rehabilitate or restore degraded land.
Sustainable Development and land management.
Biological methods of remediation technologies for contaminated soils.
Land use changes impacts on land degradation.
Climate and changes impact on land degradation.
