AIMS Energy Journal Special Issue: Energy Harvesting for Remote Power

There is growing demand in many industries for remote monitoring and control. Demand for these systems covers a wide range of industries including: mining, resources, agriculture, infrastructure, environment, meteorology and health. The electronic devices these systems use generally have low power demands, so could be powered by a range of existing storage technologies such as batteries or fuel cells. There is however growing interesting in developing supply systems which harvest energy directly from the environment. As well as solar and wind, other possible energy sources are movement (vibration), temperature, electrostatics, magnetism and those based on biochemistry. Given this demand, there is a need to understand both the energy resources available to be harvested and the conversion technologies possible for the growing range of applications. This special issue calls for papers on both these topics.
