AIMS Energy Journal Special Issue: The Role of Biomass and Bioenergy in Mitigating Climate Change
A critical part of any future low CO2 emitting energy mix will be conversion of biomass to alternative liquid fuels, natural gas substitutes and possibly biochar. There is also growing recognition that we may require energy systems capable of negative CO2 emissions if we are to limit any future rise in atmospheric temperature to 2.0 o C as stated in the UNFCCC agreement reached at Cancun. Bioenergy based power generation combined with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) is one example of how this might be done. This special issue seeks to explore the role and available options for biomass and bioenergy in the development of future low carbon energy systems and fuel supply networks.
I look forward to receiving your contribution.
